The first pair of Bass shoes were made way back in 1876. The company started out as a small business owned by George Henry Bass. Bass shoes flourished in the 1930s when the company came out with the Weejun, a penny loafer constructed with a design unique to the brand. It became the rage among young urban professionals and college preppies of the time and still remains as one of the classics in footwear. Bass shoes were a favorite of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh who wore Bass Aviation Boots during his historic first trans-Atlantic flight.
